Frank LaBlanc: Mandolin, Electric Guitar, Vocals
As with the rest of the members of the band, Frank grew up in the punk rock scene of the 80s and 90s. Born and raised in North San Diego County, Frank played around the local club circuit in such bands as Eleven Sons and Detox Jonze. During this time, a lot of off nights were spent at a local Irish pub where an acoustic Irish band played. The crowd’s interaction and enthusiastic interest in the music led Frank to decide that the next band he would be in would be an Irish band. After marrying an Irish Dance teacher and travelling through Ireland in 1993, a chance meeting with Eric Ree brought the opportunity to start a new project combining the punk rock sensibility of all of the previous bands with the wealth of tradition and material available in Irish music. A mandolin and a few pints have created a style of playing that combines all of the elements of Frank’s personal style. The new band brought together everything he was looking for. Frank has never looked back.
